New display technology, get it right.
Although I do miss the ultra bulky CRT monitors of the past (mostly for nostalgic reasons admittedly) it’s fairly staggering how swiftly the display market is evolving. With Plasma and LCD TV’s probably getting slowly phased out to make room for LED and Laser TV’s, the computer display market has an equal gargantuan rate of evolution.

Just recently, Samsung announced the world’s first and largest OLED laptop, which is essentially a laptop with a transparent screen. Although the logical part of me goes “That sounds extremely annoying and awkward“, the more inspired part of my brain had a small block party and invited everyone but the logical part, which then proceeded to sulk in a corner. But I digress.. It looks really cool, and there is some real opportunity to evolve the bilboard carousel with this technology, albeit not quite yet.

Now, that is cool. And just when you thought you could catch your breath from what could only be described as geek pornography, MSI announced the release of a new Computer monitor which comes out of the box with the same type of ‘built in’ 3D technology that made Avatar into the huge multizillion blockbuster that it is. So that means we’ll before very long have a plethora of 3D interactive experiences on our beloved inturnet. Which of course means it’s just a matter of time before you combine 3D screens with Augumented reality and so on and so forth. Pretty exciting.

This is all very new and cool, but it still feels like the flintstones compared to the Sony Flexible screen which has been around for years, just not quite evolved ‘enough’ for real world applications yet. This is truly like watching a Sci-Fi
