100 most discussed brands of 2009

Vitrue have released the results of a study tracking the most discussed brands online. I’m proud to announce that Visual Jazz came in at number 2,120,031 – go team!
From Mashable: Although the index focuses on consumer mentions and reactions — as opposed to indexing brand engagement via social media — the list is still a veritable powerhouse of information in terms of consumer buzz and word-of-mouth recommendations.
The top brands were iPhone, Disney, CNN, MTV, NBA, iTunes, Wii, Apple, Xbox and Nike, and interesting to see Ford at 21 directly followed by Honda & Ferrari, with Toyota at 39. These lists aren’t that insightful, however, almost all of these brands are massive in the offline world and proves that social media isn’t some fanciful thing that nerds do, but a reflection of everyone in the ‘normal’ population.

coming in at number 42 – Nutella? I instantly googled it up to see what amazing social campaign they did in ’09 to make it one of the most talked about brands in the world. Answer = 0. Seriously, Europeans and Brazilians are so in love with it they just want to share their love of it with the world. 3rd most popular Facebook page in existence (2.1million fans), and its a fan setup page. Lesson – Build the love and the social chit-chat will come on its own.
