Kelloggs “Boost Immunity” with a cup of cereal ad

Can a cup of cereal boost your kids immune system? That’s what the major cereal company Kellogg says in a controversial claim.

Kellogg’s claim came straight into some of their products boxes in big letters stating “Now helps support your child’s immunity”.

The company’s marketing experts probably thought they could play on parents fears about H1N1 in US.

But many parents, food experts and the San Francisco Attorney General’s staff did not agree with Kellogg’s claim and sent a letter to the company and the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) stating their concerns that these claims could mislead parents about their kids immunity, and requested proof of their claims.

See a video of the ad and the case here – you be the judge….

(We think Kellogg’s is really stretching the ‘believability’ of their claim, and therefore their brand is being damaged).
