7 iPad Apps to look forward to

It’s been less than 3 weeks since launch and some interesting iPad Apps are starting to hit the market. Seeing these Apps – their size, layout & detail – helps realise the potential for different uses in the home. We’re lucky enough to have one at the office to play around with, and it is true when Jobs says “You can hold the internet in your hand” – it’s really strange, but cool.

The Early Edition

A delightfully designed RSS reader, The Early Edition is a newspaper in the palm of your hand. Google Reader syncing would make it perfect.

Sketchbook Pro

Any budding artists or doodlers should check out Sketchbook Pro. The larger canvas of the iPad makes it a far more useful platform for sketching and drawing

OmniGraffle

For wire-framing and sketching quick diagrams, OmniGraffle is great. Again, the larger screen makes it immersive and realistic.

Wikipanion

For reading Wikipedia on the go, Wikipanion is a great solution. It makes the online encyclopaedia feel natural on a tablet sized screen.

E*TRADE Mobile Pro

Keep an eye on your investments, stay on top of the news, and get real-time quotes with E*TRADE on iPad. The large screen makes it easy to see everything you need to know about your portfolio. And you can trade with a tap from anywhere. E*TRADE on iPad makes it easier to manage your money on the go.

Box.net

Box.net has updated its iPhone app to also work on the iPad and the results are pretty impressive. You can view all of your files, view activities, leave comments and more. In the future the ability to open files with other programs and integrate with other services will be added. Box.net isn’t at full speed yet, but it’s a great start.

ABC Player

The ABC Player app is one of the more advanced video player apps we’ve seen on the iPad. Mimicking ABC’s Web interface, ABC’s video player lets you stream the latest episodes of ABC’s prime time TV lineup directly to your iPad. That includes shows like “Lost,” “FlashForward,” “V,” and more. Its interface is sleek and its images are sharply defined.
