Police 2.0 – enlisting the internet.
Read this article today on how NSW Police use Twitter and YouTube to track criminals.
Police has gone to the public many times before in the past asking for helps, putting up rewards for information on radio, tv, print and milk cartons. This time, it isn’t any different, the only different is just the medium, and probably a logical one too given the growth of these social sites, especially Twitter and YouTube.
I’m interested to see the number its generated – while the article has indicated the number of ‘hits’ and ‘views’, it hasn’t really said anything more on numbers of new leads, crimes solved etc – and compare it with the traditional way.
